FrontRow Strengthens Board with Strategic CEO Appointment13 - 02 - 2024
Unity Well Integrity Limited today announced the appointment of Dillan Perras to its board as a non-executive director. The appointment will strengthen Unity’s board as the company looks to expand in the decom sector and internationally.
Mr Perras, a chartered mechanical engineer, has 25 years of technical engineering and well operations experience across the disciplines of drilling, completion, intervention and decommissioning.
As Director at Stena Wells, prior to joining Unity, Mr Perras successfully led this new start-up company in delivering fully managed well construction and decommissioning campaigns. His time at Stena followed 16 years with Talisman / Repsol / Repsol Sinopec Resources where he held the roles of Platform Well Abandonment Team Leader, Wells Manager and Drilling & Completions Manager.
Complementing his strong operator-led management experience, Mr Perras brings with him a wide network of contacts and a close understanding of international onshore and offshore challenges, having led teams in the North Sea, Peru and Canada.
Dillan Perras explained: “My experience has provided an in-depth technical grounding which has enabled me to work closely with cross-discipline teams and select and deliver the best solutions for each wellsite. I understand operator requirements and I’m passionate about applying new engineering solutions, methods and technology to add value and streamline workflows.
“More than 2,000 North Sea wells are set to be decommissioned over the next ten years at a cost of £7.8 million per well, according to Offshore Energies UK. Unity is well placed to deliver game-changing solutions here and the industry could save hundreds of millions of pounds by employing earlier Phase 0 integrity planning. This directorship is a great fit for me and I’m very excited to be able to support Unity’s dynamic growth plans.”
Gary Smart, CEO of Unity, said: “Dillan’s exceptional industry experience and transferable knowledge will be incredibly valuable in supporting Unity’s rapid growth in the provision of technology and services for wells and decommissioning. He joins the company at a pivotal time, as we look to establish three new business units – Wells, Decom and Innovation – to promote our extensive capabilities across sectors and geographies.”
Stuart Ferguson, Chair of Unity, added: “On behalf of the board, I am delighted to welcome Dillan to Unity. He is an accomplished leader with a strategic viewpoint and a track record of success. His areas of expertise will be an excellent complement to our team.”
Mr Perras is a well-known industry figure and has been a member of the Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) Well Decommissioning working group for the last five years. He joins Gary Smart, Stuart Ferguson, Graeme Coutts, Neil McGuinness and Mark Illingworth as the sixth member of Unity’s board.
