Aberdeen-based downhole sensing technology specialist, Well-SENSE, has been recognised by industry leaders at the Global OWI Awards, for its innovative FiberLine Intervention (FLI) technology. The company received the ‘Most Impactful Technology’ award, in recognition of FLI’s contribution to the offshore well intervention industry, in an online ceremony on 3rd December.
FiberLine Intervention is a new approach to gathering well data, employing single-use, bare fibre-optics for distributed temperature and acoustic sensing. The fibre delivers immediate data as soon as it enters the well, demonstrating changing conditions as it is installed from surface to total depth. FLI then provides a dynamic picture of the entire wellbore, from every point simultaneously, for the duration of the well survey.
FLI is suitable for a variety of applications from integrity monitoring to seismic surveys. Its rapid, lightweight, rigless intervention system delivers significant cost and efficiency savings, with just one engineer at the wellsite and no requirement for wireline support.
Stuart Ferguson, CEO at Well-SENSE, said: “We’d like to thank the judging panel and awards team for recognising the game-changing benefits that FiberLine Intervention can deliver to the global market. We are proud to stand alongside international operators and industry leaders as a category winner. We’d also like to thank our growing list of valued customers for their support along our journey to commercialise a new technology.
“Having proven its benefits both on and offshore, through its breadth and quality of data; speed of deployment and reduced cost and risk, FLI is fast-becoming the first-choice well surveillance and diagnostic tool for operators. Well-SENSE continues to innovate, in order to enhance the system’s capabilities and benefits, as we strive to ensure a productive and sustainable future for the industry.”
Well-SENSE, alongside Unity, Pragma and ClearWELL, is part of FrontRow Energy Technology Group.
